Roger O’Neill. A 2009 graduate of MHS, Coach O’Neill was a three-year starter for the Mavericks and was on two state tournament teams. In his senior season, the Mavs were crowned Wesco South Champions, 3A District 1 Champions, and earned a 6th place finish at the 3A State Tournament. O’Neill was named 1st Team All-Wesco, 1st Team All-Area, and was selected to play on the Washington State 3A All Star team. He ranks 2nd in MHS history for points in a season, 7th for points in a career, and was also a four-year letterman in baseball. O’Neill went on to play basketball at Saint Martin’s University where he was a four-year starter, finished his career with 1189 points, and earned a degree in Business Administration. O’Neill, who is also a para-educator at MHS, joined the Mavs coaching staff in 2013 before taking over as Head Coach in 2015.
Troy Parker returned to the Meadowdale Boys' Basketball program for the 2015-16 season after being the Mavs Head Coach from 1997-2001. He was also at the helm of the Lady Mavs as Varsity Head Coach from 2009-2013, and has served as an assistant coach for the Mavs football program for many years. A teacher at Meadowdale since 1997, Coach Parker also enjoyed teaching and coaching stints at Bellingham HS and Renton HS. The impact of having Coach Parker on the staff is "immeasurable," Coach O'Neill says. "His experience, energy, and passion for coaching hoops is inspiring." His wife, Michelle, and daughters Madison, Emma, and Sarah grace Coach Parker's life in ways he does not deserve.
Chad McGuire returned to the Mavs boys basketball program in the 2018-19 season after an 8-year hitaus from coaching. Previously, McGuire was the Meadowdale head coach from 2002-2011. Under his leadership, Meadowdale made 5 trips to the 3A State Tournament, including 3 trips to the Final Four (2003, 2004, 2009). His career record of 171 wins to 68 losses is the best in school history. Father of Colin (6th grade) and Katie (4th grade), McGuire has also been a history teacher at Meadowdale since 1996.
Andrew Matty joined the MHS Boys' Basketball program prior to the 2011-12 season. He served two years as the Mavs JV coach, two seasons as Varsity assistant, and went back to serving as the skipper of the Mavs JV squad for the 2015-16 season. Previously, he spent three seasons as an assistant to Coach Parker with the Lady Mavs. Coach Matty is a proud graduate of Klahowya High School, located on the Olympic Peninsula, and was captain of the Eagles basketball team his senior year. He is currently a Social Studies teacher at MHS, as well as a LINK Coordinator.
Connor Hamlett joined the Mavs coaching staff in the 2018-19 season. A 2010 graduate of MHS, Hamlett is the 2nd all-time leading scorer in Meadowdale Basketball history, and holds the record for most points in a single season (571). He enjoyed three trips to the state tournament as a player, and led the Mavs his senior year to a 5th place finish, and he was also named the Everett Herald's All Area Player of the Year. A standout in football, Hamlett went on to enjoy a successful career as a tight end at Oregon State University and went on to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, and Dallas Cowboys. Hamlett is also an assistant coach on the Mavs football staff.
Andy Streit returned to the Stable in the 2018-19 season after a 3-year hiatus from coaching at Meadowdale. Previously the Mavs Head Coach from 2011-15, Streit also coached the Mavs Freshmen team from 2001-03 and for the JV squad from 2006-11. A 1998 graduate of Meadowdale, Streit was captain of the 1997-98 Chiefs team that set a record for most wins in a season (18) in Meadowdale history until it was broken in 2003. A guru of "DRF" (Defense, Rebounding, and Fundamentals), Coach Streit looks forward to seeing the freshmen team develop and improve every day. Coach Streit has taught English at MHS since 2005.
